Trouble with skin complextion?

My face, lower arms and lower legs are light-medium brown but the rest of my body is light, I love brown coloured skin, So i thought just tanning in the sun should do the trick but I keep getting sunburnt even with sun lotion on and sun beds aren't cutting it my light skin won't go brown, I talked to a friend and he said if I want an even skin tone it would be safer to go lighter than darker by using some kinda cream that reduces the melanin in your skin or something like that... I don't care if I'm white or brown I just want an all over even colour but if I go in the sun I burn go red then back to the light colour I was before so thats a waste of time the only thing I have had suggested to me is making my brown bits lighter...

What do you think?

Reply:Stop trying to tan your skin. A tan is your body's defenses against something that is harming it. Plus it damages your skin, and will make you look older than you are (ie. more wrinkly). I agree with your friend. Just apply a good sunscreen (ie. one with zinc oxide) on your brown bits and they will fade with time.
Reply:Sounds like you have......A farmers tan! Twenty minutes each day exposed to sun (with sun screen, not tanning oil) and you're skin will be evened out in no time.
Reply:It is not just you...no one's skin is the same color everywhere on their body...parts that are exposed more have a deeper color...but if it is really worse than you described see a doctor just to be sure.
Reply:when i had uneven skin tone on face, arms and legs, here's what i did -

1. used a mild skin lightening soap and skin whitening for face

2. used dermaline skin whitening lotion for arms and legs

at night time, i apply moisturizer.. at daytime, i wear a high spf sunscreen to prevent further darkening.. am still using skin lighteners minimally to this day as maintenance.
