Skin protection from swimming pool?

My son started swimming lessons 3 days ago at the inside swimming pool. The chlorine and long time water exposure dries out his skin head to toe, and his skin gets all dry and sand paper like.

He is 12 years old, what things should I bring to the pool and use on him to protect his skin?

Use a thick sunscreen. There's one that my husband and I use all the time for surfing, great protection from the sun and it's really thick and creamy, so it keeps skin hydrated. It's Banana Boat Surf in the blue bottle.

Also, make sure he rinses off right when he gets out of the water, while you're still at the pool. Then, when he gets home, make him take a shower pretty much right away. Have him put on lotion right when he gets out of the shower. Just a regular Jergens or Johnson%26amp;Johnson body lotion is fine. You can buy extra moisturizing if he needs it. By putting the lotion on right when he gets out of the shower, he'll be locking in the moisture.

I would suggest rubbing him down in mineral oil before he goes swimming. Once he's done and showered i'll oil him again.
