Oily & flaky skin... big pores... HELP! What should be cleansing/moisturizing/toner regime be?

I have oily skin which turns flaky and almost feels dry at time, and have large pores. Thinking I have oily skin or combination skin. How often shoudl I clean and with what type of cleanser? Also, should I use toner? What type of moisturizer? I'd love to get product recommendations! Thanks!

You should be cleansing your face twice a day w/ a pore clarifying cleanser. You don't need a toner if you are using ph balanced products. I would reccomend INTUIT BEAUTY.

cleanser: Set me Free

exfoliate w/ Crystal Ball (microdermabrasion) 1-2times/wk

Moisturizer: Anytime Anywhere (time released corrective moisturizer. Balances oily skin in about15 days. Dry skin about 45days)

I have really dry skin so i use a cream called dermaveen on my skin everyday and it should prevent your skin from getting flakey. I can't answer what type of cleanser cause i don't use a cleanser to keep my skin healthy and clean i have a smoothie everyday.

The smoothie contains:

Milk (of course)

raspberries

strawberries

blueberries

kiwi fruit.

Put all those ingredients in the blender and it will keep your skin healthy.

If you do use makeup that's probably what's causing your oily skin. once you don't use to much skin makeup you should be fine.

I hope i helped good luck
Reply:You should be washing as regular, twice a day and everyone regardless of skin type should be using a toner, it balances the skin's pH and wipes away left over traces of cleanser or dirt the cleanser did not wash away. Toners also help with the elasticity of pores, so that will help you since you find you have larger pores. I use Nivea toner and I love it.

Moisturizing is super important, besides for regular oil-free moisturizers, they do a TON of mattifying moisturizers nowadays that are so ideal for combination skin (they soak up oil while they moisturize). most major brands will do one, Clearasil has a mattifying moisturizer called Clearasil Total Control Daily Mattifying Moisturizer.

You should be exfoliating at least twice a week, with combination skin there will be oil and dead skin cells on your skin's surface and it's important to clear that away. I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Radiance Exfoliating Wash as I find it's VERY gentle (you can't feel it being abrasive) but it works. For a more abrasive exfoliant, once in a while I use Neutrogena At Home Microdermabrasion. It's expensive for the system, but leaves me glowing.

Drinking lots of water is a given, and having a healthy diet, I recommend Vitamin E supplements to EVERYONE because they protect your skin from free radicals and harsh conditions (you may notice your skin gets more unpredictable in extreme climates, such as winter cold and very hot summer days). Good skin does start from the inside out.

If you get blackheads, once or twice a week you should steam your face, this site tells you how:

after this, you should be using a pore strip to clean them out. I use Biore Pore Strips for my nose, they're brilliant.

You should also be using a facial mask for oily or combination skin (preferably after steaming or a shower as your pores will be open). All brands ranging from Neutrogena to more expensive brands like Clarins make them, and it will improve your skin texture.

Reply:I feel your pain my 12 year old daughter has horrible oily skin. I found a website that has natural remedies that you can make and use at home. I will send you some, they work really well.

Peace
